Martha Stewart's free printable freezer labels. They're pretty and practical. Just jot down the contents and date on the labels, stick them on your food packages, and you'll never have a glob of funky lookin' stuff in your freezer again. Download and print labels on adhesive-backed paper (available at office-supply stores). Cut out, and keep a stack handy in the kitchen. Write the contents of the container on a label, and circle the date.
